Alameda das Comunidades Portuguesas, Lisbon
Arte Institute believes that whoever is in Portugal, should look at our country as a destination for cultural tourism and value not only the vast traditional and historical heritage, but also contemporary Portugal, which grows in a very creative way. RHI’s partner cities were challenged to exhibit works by local artists, a challenge to which they enthusiastically adhered, thus being able to show and represent, in a place as multicultural as Portuguese, the culture of each region.
The project counts with works of art from artists of different parts of the country, such as Carolina M. Correia, Cheila Peças, Gabriel e Gilberto Colaço, José Aurélio, Luís Plácido Costa, and Thierry Ferreira from Alcobaça; Ana Sério and Mónica Capucho from Cascais; Abílio Febra, Mário Lopes, Rita Gaspar and Sílvia Patrício from Leiria; Vanda Lopes Palma and Joana Santos from Associação Era uma Voz, Alentejo. The initiative intends to show the great artistic diversity of the country, with several regions being represented. Also participating are photographer Jordi Burch and writer Ondjaki, with the exhibition “There is a beautiful braid in this dance of yours”, promoting a unique dialogue between photography and literature.
The art of a country is one of its most distinctive and unique traits. Travel through Portuguese art of today to make your experience in Portugal complete.
