Joí£o Lencastre Trio

Joao Lencastre is a drummer/composer native from Lisbon. Started playing the drums at the age of 13 and he’s now one of the most active and creative musicians on the Portuguese musical scene. He has played in all major festivals and venues in Portugal and also toured around the world, including USA, Czech Republic, England, Brazil, Poland, Germany, Spain, Macau,and Panama.

Lencastre has put out four records as a leader with his group Communion, all with great national and international reviews on some of the most prestigious magazines, Modern Drummer, Jazz Times, Ipslon, Jazz.PT, All About Jazz, NYC Jazz Record, just to name a few…

His fifth recording as a leader will come out on Clean Feed Records in November 2017 and features some of the most experienced and creative musicians from NYC jazz scene, the pianist Jacob Sacks and the bass player Eivind Opsvik.
