Catarina Carvalho, currently Senior Policy Advisor High Level Task Force for International Conference on Population and Development
Carvalho has 15 years of experience in working with the United Nations and European Union systems, including the Permanent Missions of Portugal, Spain and the European Union Delegation to the United Nations, in matters related to gender equality, human rights, including sexual and reproductive rights, as well as social, political and cross-cutting issues.
As a consultant for UNIFEM, she elaborated an analysis on the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Committee recommendations and UNIFEM programs in the Latin America Region. On a different assignment, she was also responsible for the elaboration of the National Policy on Gender Equality in Guinea Bissau.
Born in Portugal, Catarina Carvalho holds a Master’s Degree in Political and Social Sciences from New School University.
