The opportunity for both adult and youth students to study and perform in a professional setting is an important mission for Evolve Co-Director Jane Alexandre, an established dancer, teacher and choreographer whose past affiliations include the Dance Theatre of Harlem and the Humphrey Dance Ensemble. Says Alexandre, “I am passionately devoted to providing meaningful, serious dance education and performance opportunities for everyone.  Performing is key; I understand dance as a performing art through which we can communicate the human experience.”

Evolve Dance, Inc., led by Artistic Directors Jane Alexandre and Julie B. Johnson, is a nonprofit professional dance company in collaboration with the Family YMCA of Tarrytown providing classical and innovative dance training for all through the Y Dance Program.  The Y Dance Program serves hundreds of children, teens, and adults and offers a full recreational dance program coupled with a pre-professional training program; its mission is to engage students physically and mentally while fostering an appreciation for culture, community and the arts.  Evolve Dance, Inc. was founded in 2006 with the mission to create and connect dancing communities through investigation, reflection, and action.
