RHI Stage – Concert by H4nds Duo
Arte Institute and RHI Initiative present a concert by H4nds Duo by Tiago Nunes and António Silva at RHI Stage.
The theme of this concert is the dances for piano duo. These are characteristic dances, composed in the 19th century by Edvard Grieg (Norway) and Antonín DvoÅ™ák (Czech Republic), are representative of their composers nationality.
Tiago Nunes
Born in Coimbra, Tiago Nunes began his piano studies early in Seia Conservatory of Music, where he completed the Basic Course. Then, he attended the Piano Complementary Course at the Music Conservatory of Coimbra, in the class of Professor Rita Dourado, witch led him to finish with high classification.
He has received advice and participated in master classes of pianists such as, Aquilles Delle Vigne (Argentina / Belgium), Fausto Neves (Portugal), Álvaro Teixeira Lopes (Portugal), Paulo Oliveira (Portugal), Luísa Tender (Portugal), Nancy Lee Harper (USA / Portugal ), Paul Badura-Skoda (Austria), Rudolfo Rubino (Italy), Shao Ling (China), Wu Yi (China / USA), Elisabeth Leonskaja (Russia).
He has played solo recitals in Coimbra (Grand Auditorium of the Music Conservatory of Coimbra, Museum
Machado de Castro and Pavilion of Portugal), Porto (House of Music), Aveiro (Auditorium of the Department of Communication and Art) and at the Hall of Mirrors, (Palace Foz) in Lisbon and in concerts, group recitals (chamber music) and other events at the invitation of local authorities, associations, organizations and promoters. He has also been bestowed with several awards.
Since the beginning of 2015, Tiago Nunes has become the artistic director of the festival “Spring Concerts Cycle”, which runs from May to June in the city of Coimbra.
Tiago Nunes is currently completing the third year of his Piano Degree at the University of Aveiro under the guidance of the pianist Fausto Neves. Amongst the artists with whom he has collaborated, arise respected names such as Joaquina Ly, Carla Bernardino, José de Eca, Artur Pinho Maria, António Carrilho, Fausto Neves, Cândido Lima, Jean-Sébastien Béreau and Jaime Reis.
António Silva
Portuguese pianist, composer and improviser, António Luís Silva was awarded in several international and national competitions, highlighting the first prizes in the International Competition Cidade do Fundão, in the Interpretation Competition Frederico de Freitas and in the Iberian Piano Competition of Alto Minho, and second prize at the Santa Cecília International Competition. He made his debut in 2017 playing solo with orchestra, playing Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.1, with the Filarmonia das Beiras orchestra. Solo performed several recitals in Portugal and France, performing on different stages, including CCB’s Sala Amália Rodrigues and Main Auditorium, Teatro Aveirense, Tavares Proença Museum and Sala dos Espelhos at Palácio Foz. He also held concerts broadcasted by Antena 2. He was taught by renowned professors, including Carla Seixas, Jill Lawson and Álvaro Teixeira Lopes. In 2010, he finished the piano course at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional with distinction and was awarded by the Ministry of Education with a merit award to the institution’s best student. He graduated in Music at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas, and concluded his Masters in Music Teaching in 2016, at the University of Aveiro, always with the highest marks. Throughout his studies, António Luís Silva worked with renowned pianists and teachers such as Caio Pagano, Jeffrey Swan, Fausto Neves and Pedro Burmester. In 2019 he started the piano duo “H4nds” with the pianist Tiago Nunes. As a pianist, António Luís Silva is interested in exploring the multiple periods in the history of Western and Eastern music, from Baroque to Contemporary. He not only performs works by great music figures such as Liszt, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and Grieg, but he often shows his audience works by less-explored composers such as MacDowell, Godowsky, Okumura, Tanaka and Schmitt.
