About the Project
MusicOrba is the musical project of pianists Ricardo Vieira (Portugal) and To- mohiro Hatta (Japan), both living in Paris, France. After their alliance in 2010 – the year they went on stage to celebrate 150 years of cooperation between the two countries – they continue to immortal- ize the works for “Piano 4 hands”, considered by many as the most sublime formation of Chamber music. Since then, the duo presented itself in the most respected world festivals, having played in France, Germany, Portugal, Japan, India, Slovenia, Cape Verde, among many other countries. musicorba premiered works by numerous composers who dedicated the works to the Duo, among which are Donald Yu ( Hong Kong ), mark Yeats (England) and SteÌphane Blet (France). Not only musicorba is admired by the most important composers, but also and receives invitations for partnerships with fado ‘s greatest names, such as misia and Katia Guerreiro.
Ricardo Vieira began his musical studies at the age of 9 in Santa maria da Feira , in the music Academy of the same city, and later was a student the pianista Eduardo Resende. In 2004 he became a student of Caio Pa- gano and Paul Alvares in ESART in Castelo Branco, where he graduated. Ricardo Vieira was a scholarship student in every institution he studied. Soloist at a young age, Ricardo Vieira gave his first concert with or- chestra aged 16, which took place at Teatro S. Luiz (Lisbon), under the direction of conductor osvaldo Ferreira. Being an active musician, Ri- cardo Vieira appears as soloist and in chamber music in several cities of Portugal and abroad ( Holland, France, Germany, South Africa, Japan, Cape Verde, Spain, … ). As a soloist, he had the opportunity to work with Pedro Burmester, Helena SaÌ e Costa, Vitalij margulis, Luis moura e Castro, Paul Badura – Skoda, Boris Berman, Gerome Granjon, Roy Howat, Constantin Sandu, Inga Dzectser, Patricia La Vega, Frank van of Laar, among others. As a chamber musician, he worked with Daniel Rowland (violin ), Rafael Todes (violin), Susanne martens (violin ), Kathrine Strinckx (cello ), miguel Rocha (cello), Gaigne Paine (cello), Ana Ester Neves (soprano) among others. He participated in Stiftt music Festival, musical Spring Festival, music Festival of Beira Interior / Scutvias, Promenade Concerts ( oporto Coli- seum ), Animato Concerts (Salle Cortot / Paris), among many others. He premiered and recorded “Symphony for a good man” and “Waltz for pi- ano, harp and orchestra“ by the composer AntoÌnio Victorino D’ Almeida for Numeric label. Ricardo Vieira was a piano teacher in Portugal at Covilhã’s Regional Conservatory and EPABI (2006/2008). He completes his training with Paul Badura- Skoda, Caio Pagano and Luiz de moura Castro. Alongside his career, Ricardo Vieira has an in- tense pedagogical activity , he taught at the conservatories of Havre, EpoÌ‚ne and center YAmAHA mUSIC EURoPE. Currently he heads the pi- ano class of the Conservatories of CHATEAUFoRT ans EpoÌ‚ne – meziers in France. Ricardo Vieira is often invited as a columnist and music critic in several Parisian radios, magazines and newspapers in Europe. He is also regularly invited to be a jury in several French conservatories and international piano competitions, and has also directed several work- shops in Europe and Asia. He also has a very active roll as a promoter of Portuguese culture and he was recently awarded the Diploma of merit in FAZ initiative of CoTEC and the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic.
Born in 1986, Tomohiro Hatta began his musical studies at age 5 with m. Endo. In September 2005 heads to Paris and continues his musical career at the Ecole Nor- male de musique de Paris. June 2006 : DiploÌ‚me d’ piano ExeÌcution at the Ecole Normale de musique de Paris, unanimously and with the jury’s congratulations . June 2007 : DiploÌ‚me SupeÌrieur d’ ExeÌcution at the Ecole Normale de musique de Paris. In 2008, Tomohiro Hatta enters the Conservatoire National de ReÌgion de Paris (Conservatoire to Rayonnement ReÌgion de Paris) , in the class of the prestigious teacher Billy Eidi and ends three years later with the highest score, “ aÌ€ l’ unanimiteÌ du jury “. He has recently obtained the Improvement degree in Chamber music at Genevilliers Conservatory. He also held a master’s degree in ESART under the guid- ance of Paulo AÌlvares. Tomohiro Hatta completes his training with Paul Badura – Skoda , Caio Pagano, Ser- gei markarov, France Clidat, among others. His artistical start began in 2003 where he played in the prestigious room Dvorak Rudolfinum, and a year later was invited to play the 3rd Concerto for Piano and orchestra L.V. Beethoven with the orchestra Klassika St. Petersburg. Tomohiro Hatta is third prize at the International Piano Com- petition Rudolf Firkusny ( Prague, Czech Republic), and Smetana Prize. In 2006 , being the youngest candidate, he was semi -finalist in the International Com- petition of Port City music ( Portugal ), and won the third prize at the International Piano Competition Son Altesse Royale La Princesse Lalla meryem ( morocco). In the latter contest, he also received Special Prize of the French Embassy , Special Prize of the Russian Embassy and the Special Prize of the Delegation of Culture. In 2009 , Tomohi- ro Hatta was semi -finalist of the prestigious Long – Thibaud competition (Paris) , and a year later received the First Prize at the International Piano Competition maria Campina (Portugal ), and Second Prize at the International Competition of Alexander Scriabin. Last November 2013 the pianist won third prize at the International Piano Competi- tion orchestra Sion in Istanbul, Turkey. Throughout his career, Tomohiro Hatta participated in concerts “midi et demi” and “Animato” at Salle Cortot. He played at the Automobile Club of Paris, Ste Croix des ArmeÌniens, TacoignieÌ€res, ChaÌ‚teau de marsalin (Eure-et-Loir) , 25th Chopin Festival in Paris (Bagatelle), Centre Culturel Franco-Japonais (Paris), Hotel d’Invalides (Paris), 11th Festival “CarreÌ d’As Jeunes Talents” (Dreux), Embassy of Portugal in Paris, and he played with Christophe Boulier (violinist winner of the Long-Thibaud competition) in Paris and mezin. on December 30, 2009, in Lisbon, Tomohiro Hatta began the festivities of the 200th F. Chopin Anniversary live for the Portuguese radio RDP-Antena2. In 2010, Tomohiro Hatta played at the 12th Festival “CarreÌ d’As Jeunes Talents” concert series and the Salle Pleyel “Bon anniversaire monsieur Chopin”, broadcasted on television France 3. In 2014, under the invitation of the mPmP, Tomohiro Hatta dedicated a CD to the works for piano by the composer Alfredo Keil. In August 2015 at Palacio de Queluz, he charmed his audience with F. Chopin’s Concerto No. 1 with the orquestra moderna, under the direction of composer and conductor CeÌsar Viana. Tomohiro Hatta is currently a piano teacher at the Conservatories of music Coudray-mont- ceaux and VaureÌal.
