Bruno Belthoise is a multi-talented french pianist who experiences the scene in its various forms of expression. Passioned by Portuguese culture, he presents the music of Portuguese composers through his recitals, conferences and numerous recordings. His recordings, which are all world premieres, demonstrate his creative performing career.
This concert in tribute to Manoel de Oliveira, who lived between 1908 and 2015 and crossed many aesthetic currents, evokes the great filmmaker in a historic and symbolic perspective. The Portuguese and French works of this recital are selected around his first film “Douro Faina Fluvial” (1931) and celebrate the aspects of his multifaceted personality and the unique richness of his work.
“My desire to accompany Douro Faina Fluvial was born from the fascination I feel about the modernity and the incredible pace of his first film. I want to rediscover this masterpiece of Portuguese cinema with a vividly and spontaneous musical reaction.”
– Bruno Belthoise
