‘Palavras Deitadas ao Corpo’

‘Palavras Deitadas ao Corpo’ (Words Laid Upon the Body) is a traveling community art project, directed and choreographed by Teresa Manjua.
Through movement practices, it combines elements of the local traditions of the communities involved, in partnership with different cultural structures around the world. It works with local artists with and without disabilities and members of the community.

The project premiered in July 2023 in Asia, in residence in Thailand and Cambodia. In 2024, it toured São Tomé with the national Inclusive Dance Company. It returned to Asia in 2025 for artistic residencies in Turkey, India, and Nepal. It will have a new premiere in March in partnership with Teatro limenho, Asociación Artistas Aficionados, Peru.
