“Dancing Villa” is a contemporary dance performance inspired by the life and work of Heitor Villa-Lobos, one of the most influential figures in Brazilian music. The piece delves into the essence of his art, exploring melodies, rhythms, and emotions that embody Brazil’s rich cultural mosaic. Villa-Lobos opened his heart and ears to the soul of Brazil — to the popular traditions of the North and Northeast — revealing a plural, vibrant nation that, in the early 20th century, was still distant from the imagination of the country’s southern regions. Through his music, he expanded Brazil’s cultural identity, celebrating its immense diversity. In this new performance, Nicole Vanoni and Rosa Antuña evoke glimpses of Brazilian dance, blending movement, surrender, and sincerity in a living tribute to the spirit of Brazil. Now, “Dancing Villa” comes to Portugal for a series of performances that promise to enchant audiences with the strength and poetry of Brazilian culture. Performance Dates and Venues:
