Idealized by Beatriz Albuquerque, “Wonder Memories” is a project in which the memories of the Portuguese diaspora around the world are mapped, documented and disseminated.
The project’s intentions are the living history of the communities and the place, the richness of the experiences, the living heritage, the durable materiality and immateriality, the Portuguese traceability, with exchanges of opinions and dialogues with the artist and the emigrants from the host country.
This project has been presented in various media, such as performance, installation, cyanotypes, video art, artist’s books, posters and graffiti. It began in Lille-Roubaix-Tourcoing, France (2022) and was recently developed in New York, New Jersey, USA (2023).
Beatriz Albuquerque is looking for Portuguese emigrants (who are still or have been emigrants) who would like to share their experience and add their testimony to the “Wonder Memories” project.
The interviews will be held on September 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30 at Cooperativa Árvore, or they can be arranged by email.
