Av. Visconde do Rio Branco 880, Niterói
It’s time for Niterói to have a literary festival to call its own! Scheduled for December 1st, 2nd and 3rd, FLIN (Festa Literária Internacional de Niterói) opens a new chapter in the city’s literary circuit. Organized by the Prefeitura, through the Fundação de Arte de Niterói (FAN), the first edition of FLIN will have Martinho da Vila as the main honoree, as well as making room for renowned local writers and artists and international guests. The program for the event, which will take place at the Reserva Cultural and Sala Nelson Pereira do Santos, will include lots of literature, music, theater and cinema, on Friday from 1pm to 10pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 AM to 10.00 PM. The official opening takes place on Friday at 6.00 PM.
With the theme “Every way of reading is worthwhile” and celebrating the written word and cultural diversity, FLIN is here to reaffirm Niterói’s commitment to promoting literature and its cross-cutting aspects. The event, which also commemorates the city’s 450th anniversary, promises to strengthen Niterói’s reading market, including making stands available to all the city’s publishers who signed up to the public call process and including more than 70% of the local artists who took part in the mapping of authors carried out by FAN.
The program, divided into two stages, includes debates on the history of hip hop, ancestral knowledge, writing experiences, the history of Niterói, the literary relationship between Brazil and Portugal, oral literature, the academy of letters, biographies, comics and much more. In addition to discussions with local and national authors, FLIN has a variety of attractions ranging from presentations for children, plays and open-air cinema, as well as a large gathering of saraus.
