Sofia Ribeiro is one of the greatest voices from the country of fado, a magnificent singer who has the ability to immediately attract the listener to her unique musical universe. With a solid background in jazz studies, a very deep connection to Portuguese traditional music, and endless hours of listening to Brazilian legendary musicians, Sofia’s artistry challenges the boundaries of music labels. Well-known for her strong and emotional performances, the multi-awarded singer has captivated audiences all over the world with her warm and charming sound.
Blending elements of jazz, pop, Brazilian and Portuguese music, her latest album ‘Ar’ is the result of the powerful combination of this exceptional singer’s talent as a vocalist and composer with the brilliant arrangements and production of Colombian pianist Juan Andrés Ospina. Including several original compositions, songs by Brazilian musicians and adaptations of poems by renowned Portuguese writers, “Ar” is a journey where emotions, images and poetry interact through Sofia’s splendid voice and a superb ensemble of international top musicians living in New York. This outstanding quartet has been working on a new CD, which will come out in the summer, and they will present us some of the songs that will be part of the new album.
