Mazgani
Iranian born, Mazgani is a singer-songwriter from Lisbon. His first album, “Song of the New Heart” released in 2007, immediately established him as one of the most sought after performers in his home territory.
Common Ground”, his third album, was released in April 2013 and climbed to Number 2 in the iTunes Portugal Top 10. Recorded and produced in Bristol by John Parish (PJ Harvey) and former Bad Seeds’ Mick Harvey, Common Ground was dubbed an “instant classic” (Blitz Magazine, June 2013) and helped broaden his audience. Distant Gardens”, the first single, is on the playlist of the most prominent Portuguese radio stations.
“Mazgani’s music has a rare intensity. A sort of prayer, sometimes severe, sometimes exalted.” TimeOut-Lisboa
“Peering into the abyss, Mazgani has an incendiary romanticism and twilight chic – something of a decadent gentlemen, a likable devil and spectral cowboy.” Vogue Portugal
“Mazgani stands in the tradition of Nick Cave, Mick Harvey and Richard Hawley. If you like murder ballads of this kind, will certainly have your morbid fun with Mazgani.” – Gaesteliste- Germany
