Summer Nights Series: Literature & Gastronomy
The Arte Institute is pleased to present a Summer Nights Series dedicated to literature and gastronomy at Union Square Park, August 21, 8 PM.
Summer Nights Series will host the presentation of the book “Porto: Stories from Portugal’s Historic Bolhão Market” by Gabriella Opaz and Sonia Andresson Nolasco.
Divided into chapters that highlight the staples on a Northern Portuguese table, this book introduces one of the world’s richest, though often overlooked, culinary regions. It also provides invaluable advice for what to see, do, and taste when you visit.
Sonia Andresson Nolasco will attend the event to present the book.
Joey Batista, owner of Joey Bats Cafe will also attend the event where we will experience the wonderful portuguese sweets, Pasteis de Nata.
About the co-author Sonia Andresson Nolasco
Sonia Andresson Nolasco was born in Lisbon and raised in New Jersey’s Ironbound, Newark community, where a vibrant Portuguese immigrant enclave exists. Sonia’s passion for Portugal and its culinary heritage led her to co-author “Porto: Stories from Portugal’s Historic Bolhão Market”, a heartfelt portrait of a centenarian market and the octogenarian grandmothers that guard the region’s gastronomical identity.
