His first solo album, “Fados d’Alma” (2008) was produced by Mario Pacheco, with an introductory note by Adriana Calcanhotto, includes poems by Fernando Pessoa or Vinícius de Moraes. His new CD, “Fados de Amor” was launched in May 2012. Among the several original songs, a special note for the CD’s first single, “Amigo Aprendiz”, by Tiago Bettencourt, considered by prestigious American magazine “The Atlantic” as one of the best ballads of 2012 worldwide. Includes duets with Kátia Guerreiro in “Morena” and an exquisite musical warmth with Angolan singer/composer Aline Frazão in “Fado Contido. “Fados de Amor” was given the prestigious Amália Rodrigues Foundation award for “Best Fado Album of 2012”.
In 2013 he was chosen by famous Spanish brand Cortefiel to be part of their international collection called “Talented People”. Between October and November he did a tour through 10 different stages around the East Coast of the USA. He also hosted several workshops on Fado at universities and schools. In June 2014, Rodrigo returned to the USA for another series of workshops and concerts, including the first ever Fado concert in Kansas City. In November he produced and launched a multi-artist Fado project called “Brincar aos Fados”, that brings this century- old music style closer to young generations. The first CD of the series includes singers like Camané, Cristina Branco, Mafalda Arnauth or Ricardo Ribeiro, among others.
