Portuguese Jazz Orchestra live at the Blue Note
Arte Institute supports “Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos & Kurt Rosenwinkel” at Blue Note, NYC.
The Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos (OJM) travels to the United States to do a residency at the legendary Blue Note Club in New York, with guitar player Kurt Rosenwinkel. From 17 to 22 May you can see the Portuguese big band and the North American guitarist, in two daily concerts at 8pm and 10:30 pm.
Longtime partners, Kurt Rosenwinkel and OJM edited in 2010 “Our Secret World” which features unreleased arrangements for big band of the orchestra directors, Pedro Guedes and Carlos Azevedo, and saxophonist Ohad Talmor. “Zhivago”, “Our Secret World”, “Secret of the Old”, “Turns”, “Use of Light”, “The Cloister” and “Path of the Heart” are some of the songs that will be presented live at the Blue Note.
This trip is a strong bet Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos do to internationalize its music and its musicians. After started the year with a concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus, OJM will also visit Belgrade and Barcelona in the last quarter of 2016.
Internationally recognized, the Portuguese orchestra continues to represent the country in the most prestigious festivals and world jazz clubs, such as the Blue Note in New York.
