🎬 NY Portuguese Short Film Festival ’26 – Submissions OPEN!
The NY Portuguese Short Film Festival (NYPSFF), created by Arte Institute and first launched simultaneously in New York and Lisbon in 2011, is now accepting submissions for its 2026 edition.
Since then, the festival has expanded globally — bringing Portuguese cinema to audiences in Brazil, the UK, Angola, Australia, Poland, Mozambique, Germany, Canada, China, Thailand, Kenya, Czech Republic, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, and more.
Who Can Apply?
• Portuguese citizens living in Portugal or abroad
• Portuguese production companies with films directed by Portuguese citizens
• Portuguese educational institutions with films by Portuguese students
The person submitting must have played a main role in the film’s production.
Submission Criteria
• Short films up to 18 minutes, produced in 2024, 2025, or 2026
• Any genre, theme, or style
• Films in any language — must include English and/or Portuguese subtitles
• Applicants may submit more than one film
How to Submit
1️⃣ Fill out the online form (OPEN)
2️⃣ After submitting, you’ll receive confirmation and payment instructions
3️⃣ Pay the submission fee according to the date:
• Nov 20–Dec 22, 2025 → 15€
• Dec 23, 2025–Jan 20, 2026 → 20€
• Jan 21–Mar 5, 2026 → 25€
🎓 Students and NYPSFF 2025 participants: FREE submission (proof required)
🚫 No refunds for non-selected films
4️⃣ After payment, send your film as a private link + password to: festival@arteinstitute.org
Submission Deadline:
November 20, 2025 → March 5, 2026
🎥 Selection Process
A professional judging panel will choose the Official Selection, which will premiere in New York and then tour internationally.
Results
Applicants will be notified by email in April 2026.
