Magda Vakil (Consultant)
 
Magda Vakil was born in Lisbon, Portugal.   Magda holds a degree in Economics from the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK.  She started her professional career in the City of London, working for various international financial institutions including Royal Bank of Canada and Credit Suisse First Boston.  In 1994 she joined the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg.  After 15 years abroad, Magda returns to Portugal and in 1998 joins EDP- Energias de Portugal, S.A. as Head of Finance.  In this role Magda participates in the company’s privatization and internationalization processes and leads the Groups’ inaugural Eurobond and US$ Bond issues.  In 2008, Magda was granted a leave of absence from EDP in order to accompany her family to New York.  Currently, Magda pursues her hobby in jewelry making, volunteers and supports different non-profits, actively supporting initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of Portuguese culture and language.  Magda is Treasurer of the Parents Association of the United Nations International School and a Member of the Board of Arte Institute.
