The Royal Portuguese Reading Room, located in downtown Rio de Janeiro, hosts the exhibition “A Linguagem que Nos Une” from January 15 to 31, as part of the programme of Mostra Portugal Contemporâneo no Brasil.

After being presented at Washington Dulles International Airport, the exhibition now arrives in Rio de Janeiro with the aim of highlighting the cultural ties among the countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). The Portuguese language stands at the core of the exhibition, explored through its different accents, rhythms, and forms of expression.

The exhibition brings together works by artists and writers from across the CPLP, including José Luís Peixoto, Rita Leitão, Ondjaki, Jordi, José Luís Tavares, Francisco Vidal, Odete Semedo, Sidney Cerqueira, Afonso Cruz, Kwame Sousa, Margarida Gato, Gilda Barros, José Eduardo Agualusa, Ana Miranda, Bianca Ramoneda, Yoko Nishio, Amosse, Butcheca, Luís Cardoso, and Gabriela Carrascalão.

Curated and produced by Arte Institute, “A Linguagem que Nos Une” proposes a dialogue between image and literature, reaffirming the Portuguese language as a shared space for encounter, memory, and contemporary creation.
