Colours of the Heart (Portugal Edition)

The Arte Institute is pleased to present CORação – Colours of the Heart, a project by award-winning photographer Nico Trinkhaus.

After moving from Germany to Portugal in 2019, Trinkhaus found in our country the inspiration to explore the connection between colour and emotion. In this series, each photograph aligns a chromatic palette with a single feeling – a gesture long familiar in painting, but still rare in photography.

The Portugal Edition brings together nine images from Lisbon and beyond – from river to coast to countryside – revealing how colour is woven into the very heart of Portuguese life.

📍 Lisbon is the starting point of this visual journey, where evening light and colourful façades transform into photographic poetry.

The works are available as limited-edition fine art prints. More information can be found on the labels accompanying each piece.

About the Artist
Nico Trinkhaus (Berlin, 1988 → Estoril) is a landscape and cityscape photographer whose work has been exhibited across several European capitals. He describes himself as a mindblind photographer, born with aphantasia – the inability to visualize images. For him, photography is both memory and sharing: a way to reveal the places and emotions he encounters.
