Churky, an acclaimed Portuguese singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, takes center stage in a mesmerizing concert held in Rio de Janeiro as part of the Desdobramentos da Palavra project.
Diogo Rico (Churky’s given name) is the author of all the songs that have a distinctive touch and that led him to win the EDP Live Bands competition, catapulting Churky to greater recognition, which has allowed him to take to the stages of national and international festivals such as performances at NOS Alive (Portugal) and Mad Cool (Spain).
In 2019 he released his debut album (‘É’), and in the same year he played at the EDP Cool Jazz festival.
At the beginning of 2021, he released ‘Mossas’ – an EP with a more Folk feel that led him to play in several Portuguese cities and also a very special concert at the São Tomé Literary Festival in São Tomé and Príncipe.
The year 2022 arrives with ‘Mariposa’, a new album recorded, written and produced entirely by him, showing a more mature, polished and honest songwriting that led him to be invited to be one of the authors and interpreters of the Festival da Canção 2023, where he competed and reached the final with the song ‘Encruzilhada’.
