Arte Institute suggests “Disquiet Workshops” a monthly writing workshop taught by Disquiet ILP Lisbon faculty member Katherine Vaz in Manhattan.
WHO_ Workshop limited to six persons per session, with a max. page count of 25 per person (fiction, nonfiction, plays, or poetry).
WHERE_ Come work in our Upper East Side library surrounded by first edition Random House books inherited by Christopher Cerf from his father, Bennett Cerf, the publishing house’s founder.
HOW MUCH_ $150 per session for verbal critiques ($200 per session for a detailed written critique).

In addition to running the Luso Workshop at Disquiet, Vaz has taught fiction at Harvard University, the University of California at Davis, and Baruch College. She’s the award-winning author of Saudade and Mariana, the latter in six languages and selected by the Library of Con- gress as one of the Top Thirty International Books of 1998. Fado & Other Stories won the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, and Our Lady of the Artichokes won the Prairie Schooner Book Award. Her short fiction has appeared in dozens of magazines, and she’s the first Portuguese- American to have her work recorded by the Library of Congress. She’s won an NEA and a Radcliffe Fellowship.
