SUMMARY:‘Efflorescence: variations on color’ Exhibition | New York
DESCRIPTION:The Arte Institute supports the exhibition ‘Efflorescence: variations on color’ by Ana D’ Castro that is going to take place in New York between September 8th and October 13th. \nVenue: Leila HellerAddress: 17 East 76th Street\, NY 10021Date: September 8th – October 13th\, 2022 \nDescription:Ana’s works are an embodiment of how color speaks the language of the soul\, expressing deep emotions and connections through beautiful waltz of colorful fragments dancing through the canvas. Each of her projects creates a kinetic immersion into a sensorial world of colors\, wherein the visitors become a part of the artwork itself. Her work is analogous to a tridimensional fusion of art\, architecture and the dimension of time\, which is added by audiences’ trajectory in space around the artwork. \nThis show comprises of a series of paintings made by an assemblage of materials added onto the canvas\, creating heavy texture of layers\, which Ana progressively manipulates in the confined areas. Color is added with an intended proportion and gradient tonalities which complement each other\, creating depth and volume in the piece. \n

SUMMARY:'Meia História Encaixa' by Dança em Diálogos | Tavira
DESCRIPTION:The Arte Institute partners with Dança em Diálogos to present ‘Meia-história Encaixa’\, choreographed reading and movement workshop\, based on José Saramago’s ‘Convent Memorial’. \nBiblioteca Municipal de Tavira\nR. da Comunidade Lusíada nº 21\, 8800-397 Tavira\nMarch 8 and 9\, 2022 (school session) \nSynopsis:\nBased on the literary work ‘Memorial do Convento’ by José Saramago\, MEIA-HISTÓRIA ENCAIXA appears as an integral part of the educational program associated with the creation of the ballet ‘Memorial do Convento’. As a first contact with Saramago’s work\, this choreographed reading and workshop for children unites the literary universe with the possibilities of dance as a narrative expression that starts with the body and movement. The sonority of the word and the narration of the story find an echo in the performer’s body that chains itself in a narrative movement between the characters. \nCan a single choreographic body bring about the fluency that narrates the stories of Baltasar\, Blimunda\, Friar Lawrence\, and other characters in the novel? And where do the wills come from? And how does the construction of a convent emerge as the setting for a love story that is surrounded by the greatest complexities of human attitude? After the choreographic reading follows a workshop where children are invited to explore the narrative basis of movement and how it proposes to characterize the figures\, space and time of the novel’s action. \n  \n\n\n\nCreation ||\n| Ângelo Cid Neto \n\n\nText ||\n| José Saramago (excerpts from the novel Memorial do Convento)\n| Fernando Duarte (additional text) \n\n\nDramaturgy\, text selection and stage props ||\n| Solange Melo\n| Fernando Duarte\n| Ângelo Cid Neto \n\n\nCostumes ||\n| José António Tenente \n\n\nVoiceover ||\n| Solange Melo \n\n\nSound design ||\n| Ângelo Cid Neto \n\n\nPerformance ||\n| Valentina Codinha \n\n\nProduction ||\n| Dança em Diálogos \n\n\nCo-Production ||\n| Cineteatro Louletano\n| Casa das Artes de Vila Nova de Famalicão\n| Teatro José Lúcio da Silva \n\n\nInstitutional Support ||\n| Fundação José Saramago \n\n\nCreative Support ||\n| Polo Cultural das Gaivotas-Boavista\n| Câmara Municipal de Lisboa
