The Municipality of Torres Novas, with the aim of promoting qualified practices for the internationalization of Torres Novas’ cultural fabric in the European, Lusophone and Ibero-American space, outlined in its Municipal Strategic Plan | Culture 2030, has joined the Arte Box project by Arte Institute.
The Arte Box – Washington exhibition, called Art from Torres Novas, will be on show at Washington Dulles International Airport until March 2025.
The Arte Box project exhibits works by Portuguese-speaking artists (belonging to the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries) at Washington Dulles International Airport, RIO Galleão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro and Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon.
By promoting art in non-traditional environments and spaces, these exhibitions, held in different locations at each airport, open doors to artists and their art, while also giving people from all over the world the chance to get to know each country’s culture. Arte Box reinforces Arte Institute’s mission, bringing culture and its artistic elements to a place where people from all corners of the globe pass through, with different nationalities, perspectives and experiences. A country’s art is one of its most distinctive and unique features.
To this end, we have invited local artists Júlio Costa, Alcides Baião, Conceição Guerreiro Lopes, Graça Martins and Sam Abercromby to take part in this “showcase” for the world.
Take a look at this exhibition if you’re passing through Dulles Airport, in Washington.
