Nathalie Pires proudly represents what is arguably the oldest urban folk music in the world; the soul of Portugal, Fado. Her intense voice and raw emotion has gained her overwhelming recognition by the media and her international audiences as one of today’s leading “Fadistas,” a huge honor considering she was born and raised in the United States.
 
The success of her award winning debut album in 20
07, “Corre-me o Fado Nas Veias” led her to stages all over North America and Europe. She has represented Portugal at Folk Festivals, introducing Fado to large audiences of diverse ethnicity’s. In the fall of 2011, Nathalie was awarded with the “Amália Rodrigues Medal of Merit” on behalf of the Amalia Rodrigues Foundation, for being an “ambassador of fado and represent Amália with dignity outside Portugal.” In the spring of 2013 the Boston Globe described her as the “Fresh face of fado.”
 
Highlights of Nathalie’s career include a guest performance with world famous saxophone player Tim Ries’ “Rolling Stone Project” concert in Austria, recording with the orchestra “Manhattan Camerata”, performing at the Kennedy Center by invitation of the Portuguese Embassy, performing at the “VI Gala Amália” in Lisbon and various performances in some of the most prestigious Fado houses in Lisbon alongside living legends of the genre and accompanied by some of the best guitarists in the history of Fado.
