RHI Stage – Concert by Minta & The Brook Trout

RHI Stage – Concert by Minta & The Brook Trout

17 May 2020, 10:00pm

Arte Institute and RHI Initiative presents a concert by Minta & The Brook Trout at RHI Stage.

Active since 2009, and with a mutable cast of musicians, Minta & The Brook Trout perform a very particular set of songs written by Francisca Cortesão (vocals, guitar) and persuaded into shape by Mariana Ricardo (vocals, bass, ukulele).

With three full-length albums out – Minta & The Brook Trout, 2009, Olympia, 2012, and Slow, 2016 –, the Lisbon-based group has gradually won over a loyal audience all over Portugal, with performances that range from house shows to concerts in major festivals, such as Bons Sons (2015), NOS Alive (2018) or Super Bock Super Rock (2017).

Minta & The Brook Trout’s latest records were also released by independent labels in the US, Olympia via Hope For The Tape Deck, from Philadelphia, and Slow and the Row EP via Gaylord’s Party Music, from Oakland. The US release of Slow called for a tour in California, in 2016. In 2017, Minta & The Brook Trout played the UKP Festival in Ribadavia as part of a series of shows in Galicia, Spain. The first concert in Japan happened the following year, at Festival de Frue.

Live, Minta & The Brook Trout play either as the core duo of Francisca Cortesão and Mariana Ricardo (who have also produced all of the band’s records) or as a five-piece band with Margarida Campelo (keyboards, percussion, vocals) Tomás Sousa (drums, percussion, vocals) and Bruno Pernadas (electric guitar).

The yet-untitled fourth album is in the works.
