About the musician:
Beatriz Nunes is a singer and songwriter. In 2018 she released her first album, “Canto Primeiro”, which included her own songs, new arrangements for some classic songs such as José Afonso’s “A Song of Patience” and creations for poems by contemporary Portuguese poets, such as “Para-me de Repente o pensamento” by Angelo de Lima or “Senhora do Ó” by Margarida Vale de Gato.
She has been the vocalist for the Madredeus Group since 2011, with whom she recorded the ”Essência” album in 2012, and toured at the Barbican in London, Wien Konzerthaus in Vienna, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, AVO Sessions in Basel, Mimo Festival in Ouro Preto, Is Sanat in Istanbul, among others. In 2015 she recorded with the Madredeus the group’s last album, ”Capricho Sentimental”.
At the same time, she maintains activity in her own name, with a repertoire of Jazz and Portuguese music. She has several collaborations in Jazz projects and new Portuguese music, namely in the albums “Mau Sangue” by José Ferreira / Nuno Moura (2011), “Terra Concreta” by Afonso Pais (2013); Tiago Sousa’s ”Coro das Vontades” (2014), ”Getting All The Evil Of The Piston Collar” by The Rite of Trio (2015).
