“A Música Portuguesa a Gostar Dela Própria”, in English ”Portuguese Music Loving Itself”, is one of the biggest audiovisual collections of oral tradition and collective memory existing in Portugal. Founded in 2011, it aims to create an awareness of the importance and knowledge of the living and often forgotten heritage of oral tradition, songs, novels, short stories, sacrosanct practices, songs, dances and also gastronomy. This awareness, which is essentially a mechanism of memory literacy, reminds us that it is urgent to document, record and reuse fragments of a people’s memory.
