Mia Tomé – “There Is a Herbarium in the Desert”

In recent years, actress and singer Mia Tomé has developed the poetic-musical project “There Is a Herbarium in the Desert”, inspired by the poetry of Emily Dickinson, translated by Ana Luísa Amaral. The performance blends spoken word and music in a celebration of femininity and nature, evoking the vast imagery of the desert and the strength of the poetic voice.

In October, Mia Tomé will present this concert in two special moments in the United States, organized by the Arte Institute.

The first performance will take place at the Portugal-U.S. Chamber of Commerce Gala Dinner 2025, on October 21, at the Harvard Club of New York. This is an institutional, invitation-only event that brings together distinguished members, partners, and friends of the Portuguese-American community.

Later, Mia Tomé will perform “There Is a Herbarium in the Desert” at the Bristol Community College, on October 26 at 9 PM, in Bristol, Massachusetts — an open-to-the-public concert that celebrates the feminine and the poetic power of the desert.

About the Artist | Mia Tomé
Actress, singer, and voice artist, Mia Tomé holds a degree in Theatre from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and trained at the The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York as a Gulbenkian Foundation scholar. Her work explores the intersection of music, poetry, and performance, focusing on feminine expression through projects such as “Projeto Natália” and “There Is a Herbarium in the Desert”, presented in several U.S. and European cities.
