The Cross Media group is pleased to present the artist in residency exhibition of Beatriz Albuquerque.
The Cross Media group started 2 years ago and comes from the idea by Judith Burton that all media should be explored through all media. Each artist, then part of the group, is entitled to explore a project with different mediums in the Columbia Studios and exhibit in one of the rooms of Macy Gallery for up 1 week.
 
The NYC based Portuguese visual and performance artist Beatriz Albuquerque is presenting a photo-graphic and 3D printing installation related to the documentation gathering of her project entitled Crisis of Luck. This project was presented last August at the 17ª Bienal de Cerveira: Arte: Crise e Trans-formação, Vila Nova de Cerveira in Portugal. Beatriz Albuquerque gained the Biennial award “Prémio Revelação“ with this Project.
 
Beatriz Albuquerque was awarded the Prémio Revelação, 17ª Bienal de Cerveira: Arte: Crise e Transformação (2013); the Myers Art Prize: mixed 
media, Columbia University, New York (2009) and the Ambient Series Performance Award, PAC / edge Performance Festival, Chicago (2005).
 
She has shown around the world in multiple places in solo and group exhibitions such as: Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, Chicago Cultural Center, Chelsea Art Museum in New York, Emily Harvey Foundation, New York NY, 10th International Istanbul Biennial , 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, MUBE Brazilian Sculpture Museum in Sao Paulo, in Ghana National Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Bogota, Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas, Trama Festival in Porto, Cabinet Magazine Brooklyn, MASS MoCA in North Adams, among others.
