New York, NY, May 2012 - Strings of Thought is a contemporary dance piece that uses digital media as part of an interactive scenography. This project will premiere in July in Guimarães, Portugal, as part of the European Capital of Culture 2012, but before heading abroad, Franco and Teixeira will show a preview of Strings of Thought at 3LD Art + Technology Center in New York City on June 7 and 8 at 8:00pm.
In this solo dance piece, the dancer’s body is attached to several suspended cables, each with the ability to control sound, light and text. They represent the abstractions of our personal dogmas, affecting the body’s movement and dexterity and revealing the inner struggle between who we are and who we wish to be.
Since 2006, Ivan Franco and Lígia Teixeira have developed several performances that explore physical interaction with digital systems, creating a true dialogue between body and machine.
