Vetusta Morla Concert

March 13, Highline Ballroom, New York  at 8 PM

Hailing from Tres Cantos in Madrid, Spain, alternative rock outfit Vetusta Morla formed in the summer of 1998. The band achieved success quickly, recording its first award-winning demo in early 2000 and making it to the finals of Moratalaz's Rock Contest in 2001. After several lineup changes and additional demos, the band completed its first EP, Mira ("Look"), at Heatroom Studios in Madrid in 2005.

In February 2008, Vetusta Morla released its first full-length LP, Un día en el mundo ("A Day in the World"). Featuring tracks like "La cuadratura del círculo" ("Squaring the Circle") and "Al respirar" ("Breathing"), the disc met with considerable critical acclaim. In 2011, the band released its latest album Mapas ("Maps"), which featured the lead single "En el río" ("In the River"). Available on the band's website before it was even released, the disc contains what calls "an intriguing collection of intense, heavily layered tracks." Vetusta Morla has never been one to adhere to convention, and this disc represents an intriguing next step in the evolution of this chart-topping band.
